ADA-style walk-in showers for seniors in Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex NJ

Swap a tub that is hard to step over for an accessible, tiled walk-in shower, with grab bars where you need them. Starting at $6,000 for the whole shower area, usually 7 to 10 days. We look at the bathroom first, then put the scope and an itemized price in writing before anything is scheduled.

What you get

A safer shower, built for the people who use it

We take out a tub that has become hard to climb into and build a tiled walk-in shower in its place. You choose from these, and we go through them at the walkthrough.

  • A lower way in

A lower curb or a curbless entry, so there is no tub wall to step over. Curbless is quoted per job.

  • A built-in seat

A seat built into the shower, tiled with the rest of it. Quoted per job.

  • Grab bars where you need them

They are built into the job price. We mark the spots with whoever uses the shower.

  • A recessed niche

Shampoo and soap sit in the wall, not on the floor of the shower.

  • Waterproofed before any tile

A pre-pitched pan goes in and the walls and floor are sealed before a single tile goes up.

  • An itemized written price

Every quote is itemized line by line, so you see what each part costs before anything is scheduled.

Pick any fixture you like, handheld included. Our plumber connects it.

Accessible bathroom

What an ADA-style accessible shower means in practice

The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) sets detailed shower rules for public and commercial buildings. Those rules do not apply to a private home, so we do not certify a home bathroom as ADA compliant. What we do is build your shower on the same ideas, to ADA guidelines where the space allows:

  • Curbless or low-threshold entry. No tub wall to step over. Curbless means lowering the floor, so it is quoted per job.
  • Grab bars. Built into the job price, in the spots you pick with whoever uses the shower.
  • A bench or built-in seat. Tiled with the rest of the shower. Quoted per job.
  • A handheld shower. Pick the fixture you like and our plumber connects it.
  • Slip-resistant tile. How slippery a shower floor is comes down to the tile you choose, not the install. We point you to textured, slip-resistant options when you pick.

Not every bathroom has room for every dimension the ADA lists for commercial spaces, like clear floor space and turning room. At the free walkthrough we measure, tell you what fits, and put it in your written price.

We recently had Lucas and his crew from Summit Home Services remodel our bathroom, and the results exceeded our expectations. Lucas was professional, reliable, and easy to communicate wit, he always got back to us quickly and showed up right on time. The space looks beautiful, and the job site was spotless when they finished. I'd definitely recommend Summit Home Services and will be calling them again for future projects!

Lucas and his team helped with a bathroom remodel that we were doing. They were responsible for all tile work, paint, moldings and install of our vanity. In addition, they painted our ceilings in several other rooms. They were completely professional. The work was done on schedule, they cleaned up each day prior to leaving our home, and the work is beautifully done. I would not hesitate to use them again.
